Project Summary
LayerEdge is a decentralized network designed to enhance the Bitcoin blockchain by leveraging zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) and BitVM’s trust-minimized verification and proof aggregation technology. It enables layers, blockchains, Rollups, and applications to settle securely on Bitcoin with low costs and high efficiency, building a “Bitcoin-powered internet.”
Core Features
Efficient Verification: Utilizes ZK and BitVM to provide fast, low-cost zero-knowledge/validity proof verification, reducing settlement costs to 1% of Bitcoin’s native fees.
Scalability: Supports Rollups, decentralized applications (dApps), and other protocols for efficient, trust-minimized computation and data verification on Bitcoin.
Light Node Verification: Users can run lightweight nodes via browser or CLI to participate in network verification, earning EDGE points and contributing to the decentralized ecosystem.
Cross-Chain Interoperability: Facilitates interoperability between Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other protocols, bridging multiple blockchain ecosystems.
Vision and Mission
LayerEdge aims to extend Bitcoin’s security to all blockchain layers and applications through trust-minimized verification and proof aggregation, creating a scalable, decentralized trust layer for the internet.
Key Progress
Testnet and Airdrop: LayerEdge has launched an incentivized testnet, allowing users to earn EDGE points by running light nodes or submitting proofs, with opportunities to participate in the $EDGEN token airdrop.
Mainnet and Trading: The EdgenChain Alpha mainnet is live, with $EDGEN token trading starting on Binance Alpha on June 2, 2025.
Cost Savings: The testnet has demonstrated over $3.5 million in cost savings, verifying more than 450,000 ZK proofs.
