Fabric Foundation

Non-profit organization for open robotics

Tags:

Fabric Foundation is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to building the governance, economic, and coordination infrastructure that enables safe and productive collaboration between humans and intelligent machines (especially general-purpose robots and AGI).

Website: https://fabric.foundation/

Core Mission
To ensure intelligent machines:
– Expand human opportunities
– Remain aligned with human intent
– Benefit people everywhere

The Foundation focuses on the challenges that arise as AI transitions from software into the physical world — including physical safety, real-time decision-making, resource constraints, human environments, and risks of power concentration. Current economic and institutional systems are not prepared for machines as active participants, so new open infrastructure is essential.

Key Activities
– Fund and coordinate research in human–machine alignment, interpretability, machine governance, and economic frameworks for humans + machines.
– Build open, public-interest infrastructure for:
– Decentralized identity for machines and humans
– Decentralized task allocation and accountability
– Location-gated & human-gated payments
– Machine-to-machine communication and data channels
– Convene policymakers, standards bodies, researchers, and industry leaders to develop deployment norms, safety guardrails, and long-term governance.
– Expand global participation through tele-operation, education, and localized robotics contributions.
– Promote public understanding of AI/robotics trajectories and governance choices.
– Provide long-term, neutral stewardship as a mission-driven institution for responsible ecosystem growth.

Robot Economy & $ROBO
The Foundation’s rallying cry is “Own the Robot Economy”.

They are creating a payment, identity, and capital allocation network that allows robots to function as autonomous economic participants:
– Robots have on-chain wallets and verifiable identities
– They can independently receive tasks, pay fees, collaborate, and generate value
– Anyone can build, own, operate, or contribute to the open general-purpose robot network

$ROBO is the core utility + governance token:
– Powers network fees, identity verification, robot service payments, and protocol transactions
– Enables staking for task priority, ecosystem incentives, and governance voting
– Network initially launched on Base, with plans to migrate to its own L1 chain
– A portion of protocol revenue is used for open-market $ROBO buybacks, creating sustained demand
– Total supply: 10 billion tokens (fixed); launched in early 2026 with airdrop, claims, and listings on exchanges like MEXC, KuCoin, Binance, etc.
– Built in collaboration with projects like Virtuals Protocol (e.g., Titan mechanism for robot market participation)

In one sentence:
Fabric Foundation is the non-profit infrastructure and governance driver for the open robot era, blending mission-driven research + decentralized blockchain economics to create a safe, inclusive, aligned, and truly decentralized robot economy.
