Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in a blog post on Oct. 29 that one of the goals in the blockchain roadmap is to study “advanced 加密貨幣graphy” to resist future quantum computer attacks, Cointelegraph reported.

In the article, he introduced the “Splurge” phase, the sixth phase in the Ethereum roadmap, which aims to “fix other problems” and focus on improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and “various niche topics.”
Buterin also mentioned that Ethereum’s next update, Pectra, will include the first step in improving the EVM with the introduction of the EVM Object Format (EOF), which will separate code and data and make it easier for layer 2 blockchains to process code.
In addition, the Pectra update will also make the “convenience features” of account abstraction open to all users, such as using ERC-20 tokens to pay transaction fees. Buterin mentioned that EIP-7701 is a proposal to implement account abstraction. He also discussed the transaction fee economics of Ethereum, proposing the concept of “multi-dimensional gas” to better price the blockchain’s available resources, reduce the “worst case” usage of resources, and reduce the pressure to optimize performance. #ETH
