Trump: Iran’s New Supreme Leader Won’t Last Long Without My Approval

Odaily News: According to an ABC News report, Trump stated in a recent interview that as Iran moves closer to selecting its next Supreme Leader, if the candidate is not approved by him in advance, the new leader “will not last long.” He said in the interview: “He has to get our approval, and if he doesn’t get our approval, he won’t last long. We want to make sure we don’t have to go through this again every 10 years, especially when you don’t have a president like me who is uncompromising.” He added: “I don’t want people to have to go through the same thing again in 5 years, and worse, they must never have nuclear weapons.” (Jin10)

“CLARITY Act” Could Pass by July, White House and Senators Actively Pushing

Odaily News: Veteran Washington mật mã policy expert and President of the Solana Policy Institute, Kristin Smith, stated that the “CLARITY Act,” legislation targeting crypto assets and services, could pass Congress by July this year. Smith noted in the latest episode of “Fortune Crypto Playbook” that despite Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong withdrawing support in January, causing industry concern, active involvement from several key senators and the White House team keeps the bill on track. Smith revealed that the legislative team is pushing the Senate Banking Committee to complete its review in March-April, allowing for a full Senate vote before the July recess. She emphasized that both traditional financial institutions and crypto companies are actively participating in negotiations for the first time, and President Trump’s pressure on banks via social platforms has increased the bill’s chances of passage. If it proceeds smoothly, the “CLARITY Act” will provide clear rules for integrating crypto assets into the mainstream financial system, marking a new phase in crypto industry regulation. (Fortune)

The bill prohibits payment stablecoin issuers from paying any form of interest to holders, provided that “federal law prohibits such payments.” The companion bill CS/CS/SB 1440, passed on the same day, expands confidentiality protections for information of virtual currency businesses, qualified payment stablecoin issuers, and other institutions to protect trade secrets and non-public information. South Korean Financial Authorities Plan to Prohibit Corporate Investment in Stablecoins

Odaily News: In the “Corporate Virtual Currency Transaction Guidelines” being drafted by South Korea’s Financial Services Commission, the permitted investment scope will not include stablecoins. The hướng dẫnlines aim to allow listed corporations and registered professional investment corporations to trade digital assets for investment or financial purposes. To prevent disorderly investment in the early market, authorities have decided to exclude dollar stablecoins like USDT and USDC from the permitted scope.

One reason for excluding stablecoins is that South Korea’s current Foreign Exchange Transactions Act does not recognize stablecoins as a means of external payment. Including stablecoins in the permitted investment scope would conflict with the existing legal system, effectively allowing companies to use stablecoins for commercial purposes like trade. Currently, the South Korean National Assembly is reviewing an amendment to the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act that would recognize stablecoins as a payment means; the bill was proposed in October last year.

It is reported that some listed companies with a high proportion of trade had requested the inclusion of stablecoins in the permitted scope to facilitate foreign exchange hedging. Even if excluded from the guidelines, companies can still trade stablecoins through personal wallets or overseas exchanges. Industry insiders revealed that the relevant working group has completed its tasks, but the release timing of the guidelines is linked to the legislative progress of the Digital Asset Basic Act.

“1011 Insider Whale” Agent: US-Iran War Could Trigger 15% Oil Supply Gap, Far Exceeding Historical Levels

Odaily News: “1011 Insider Whale” agent Garrett Jin posted on X platform, stating that there is a clear correlation between historical oil supply gaps and price increases: an approximately 7% supply gap in 1973 drove oil prices up about 300%, a 5% gap in 1979 drove prices up about 150%, and a 6% gap in 1990 drove prices up about 130%. The potential supply shock scale around the Strait of Hormuz is currently about 15%, far higher than historical cases. Most institutional models currently assume the shock duration is only “days to weeks,” but few models expect the shock could last for months. In reality, once the market consensus on duration is broken, more long funds may be forced into the market, further pushing up oil prices.
