| The National Geography Bee started in 1989 and is open to all students from grades 4 through 8. Competitors split into groups and answer questions from categories including cultural and economic geography, plants and animals, around the world, across the country, and geographic comparisons. Different geography bees are run differently, asking different oral and written questions. There are national, regional and international geography bees. Prizes range from small to large cash prizes, scholarships, atlases, national geographic subscriptions, and international vacations. Contestants should even be familiar with visuals including maps, flags, hats, and other pictures if they want to win the geography bee. With a lot of hard work and practice you could even with the geography bee! Just study those maps, atlases, and encyclopedias, and you could be the next winner! |
